As such, it is responsible :

• the development, planning and implementation of government programs in the fields of livestock, fisheries and animal and fishery industries;
• the development of the regulation and monitoring of standards, as well as their application in breeding, fishing, animal and fishery industries;
• studies and research for the renewal of animal, fishery and fish resources , in conjunction with the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation;
• the quantitative and qualitative improvement of production and yields in the livestock and fisheries sectors;
• the promotion of investments in the fields of breeding and fishing, in conjunction with the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Territorial Development and the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development;
• improving the con sanitary control in matters of maritime, fluvial and piscicultural fishing;
• of the salubrity of foodstuffs of animal, halieutic and piscicultural origin;
• of the protection of maritime and river resources;
• technical supervision in the fields concerned;
• the application of measures aimed at the conservation, development and exploitation of farm animals and fishery products & nbsp;;
• the collection, production and analysis of statistics in the fields of breeding, fishing, animal and fishery industries;
< li> monitoring professional organizations working in the fields of breeding and fishing;
• monitoring the training of human resources in the areas concerned in relation to other interested Administrations;
• of the monitoring of schools and training centers for personnel in veterinary medicine and in the professions concerned, exclusively or establishments under the ministries responsible for education.

Il exerce la tutelle sur :

• the Society for the Development and Exploitation of Animal Productions (SODEPA);
• the Mission for the Development of Artisanal Maritime Fisheries (MIDEPECAM);
• the National Veterinary Laboratory ( LANAVET).
